Hollow Knight is a challenging 2D action-adventure. Quest Items can either be purchased from Merchants, given by an NPC, or simply found in specified sections of a location. Quest Items: Quest Items in Hollow Knight are to be used for completing specific Quests in Hollow Knight. The original, award winning, action adventure. The game also has several endings, with the “true” one, featuring a new boss, only obtainable after getting two halves of the special Kingsoul charm and venturing to their Birthplace in order to transform it into the Voidheart.Descend into the world of Hollow Knight! However, the game is non-linear, with the main goal being to explore until you can fight three key bosses and kill the three Dreamers that sleep to protect the seal of the Temple in which you fight the game’s final boss. At the end of many areas, there is a tough boss enemy who, when defeated, will often reward the player with things like a large amount of Geo or new abilities (such as a dash, double-jump, etc., that allow them to reach the next area). At the start, they may only equip 3 Charms at a time, but this can be increased with Charm Notches. At benches, the player can also equip Charms that give them bonuses to various things. They will also respawn at the last visited bench, this game’s save points. All their Geo will also be lost, and they must defeat the Shade in order to gain it back, in addition to the rest of their SOUL vessel. If the player dies, they will leave behind a Shade, a ghostly enemy that looks like their character, in the spot where they did, and their maximum SOUL will be reduced. Defeated enemies drop currency called Geo, which can be used to purchase various items. The maximum amount of SOUL that can be held can be increased using Vessel Shards throughout the world. To use spells or “focus” (Regain one mask of life), they use SOUL gained by striking enemies with the nail. They can use a melee weapon called a nail, which can be upgraded for Geo (below) in order to fend off enemies or learn spells for ranged combat. This can be increased by gathering Mask Shads scattered throughout Hallownest. They start out with 5 masks of life, losing 1 or 2 per hit, and dying if all 5 are depleted. 
The player can explore many different areas, complete with hostile bugs and platforming challenges, as well as abilities to unlock. Throughout the game, you discover more about the past of your character and the kingdom. You play as a creature called The Knight and travel through the fallen kingdom of Hallownest while discovering new movement and combat abilities, as well as new areas (this is a Metroidvania game, so certain areas are inaccessible until gaining certain abilities or items). Hollow Knight is a 2D Metroidvania action platformer game developed by Team Cherry for Microsoft Windows, macOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation4.
